Amber Alert canceled for missing Jupiter boy, 4

The statewide Amber Alert that was issued for a 4-year-old Jupiter boy has been canceled, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said shortly after 1:30 p.m. Friday.

In a Twitter message, Jupiter police said Dominic Louis Caprio “is safe and has been reunited with his mother.”

The alert came to an end 24 hours after Dominic was reported missing by his mother after she returned to the family’s home and found her son and his nanny, Blanca Castro, were gone.

Early Friday, Jupiter police announced the arrest of Castro on a kidnapping charge but said Dominic remained missing.

Castro, 57. was booked into jail in Miami-Dade County on an out-of-county warrant, jail records show.

Officials initially said he was thought to be with Elizabeth Caprio, 60 and Luis Caprio, 64. The two are his grandparents and they have a home in the Coconut Grove community of Miami.

Miami television stations Friday showed the Caprio home with a car parked behind locked gates that resembled the blue, late-model BMW that was being sought in the Amber Alert.

No other information was immediately available.
