Man crossing street struck and killed in Lauderdale Lakes

A man was killed around 1 a.m. Sunday after he was struck by a car while attempting to cross Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes, authorities said.

Investigators said the man was hit in the 3400 block by a vehicle heading westbound on West Oakland Park Boulevard in the far-left thru lane.

The pedestrian was crossing the road southbound in the middle of the block when he was struck. The driver fled the scene.

The victim has not been identified.

Detectives said the suspect vehicle is a 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty that may have damage to the front driver side, including the bumper, headlight, marker lens and possibly hood.

Evidence located at the scene scene indicates the vehicle may also be missing the driver’s side fender cover.

Information leading to an arrest could result in a reward of up to $3,000.
